Exploration 17 Focuses on Integrating The Geosciences

August 15, 2017 / by Jenna McKenzie

Exploration 17 Every ten years, the mineral exploration industry gathers in Toronto to participate in a conference to discuss our challenges, showcase innovation, and promote integration between Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry and Remote Sensing.

These conferences, now under the official entity of DMEC, the Decennial Mineral Exploration Conferences group, have been held in the seventh year of every decade, starting in 1967.

The theme of Exploration ’17 is “Integrating the Geosciences: The Challenge of Discovery” and features a multi-national, multi-disciplinary technical programme, exhibition, workshops and field schools scheduled for October 22-25, 2017.

Ronacher McKenzie Geoscience feels strongly that effectively integrating the geosciences is critical in exploration and helps increase the odds of discovery. On a personal note, I attended the decennial conference in 2007 and it made such an impression, that I had to help get involved. Since 2014, I have been the E17 Conference Secretary, and it has been a rewarding experience to work along side a fantastic executive to bring together the leaders of our industry.

The full technical program is online. The conference will be kicked off with a State of the Art Plenary Session showcasing the latest in the geosciences. It will be followed by a Panel Discussion on Integrating the Geosciences. The following days are split into technical sessions on each geoscience discipline and how we can integrate better to address the challenge of discovery.

Ronacher McKenzie Geoscience is definitely going to be there. If you are passionate about mineral exploration like we are, consider attending this conference.

The early-bird registration deadline is August 31st, 2017. More information can be found at www.exploration17.com.
